The goal of Central Academy's Teacher Preparation program is to prepare high school students for further education and careers in the education profession. Students will be able to focus on teaching as a profession, human growth and development, and curriculum and instruction. Classroom instruction will help the student understand various cultures and practices that may affect the learning process.
Opportunities to observe teachers in the classroom, plan lessons for classes, and practice effective teaching skills will be paramount for all students in the program. As students reach the eleventh grade, they will be able to select from elementary, middle or high school areas of study. The early childhood and elementary pathway will cover general preparation for teaching students ages 3 through 5th grade. In the secondary realm, students can choose to place more emphasis on either high school or middle school. At the secondary level, the students will begin to develop a concentration in a primary teaching area, such as math, English, science, etc.
